I’ve improved my writing by removing bias and really going into detail about issues. Beforehand, I think I had subtle bias that I would try to convey and reflecting on that; it’s not very fair even if I think it was the “right side” of a subject.

Professor Bell this semester really helped me to approach social issues with more initiative. Initiative to do my own research in depth instead of taking information on the surface. Professor Bells class this spring also motivated me towards advocacy. When I was writing my research proposal, I was very enthusiastic to write it because I wanted others to learn what I learned as well.

I believe that’s what advocacy is about; the willingness to learn and be teachable instead of looking for some kind of superiority about this information.
